Cheryl Perkins

19/12/2023
Congratulations to Cheryl Perkins, a Ward Nurse in Neuro Purple ward, who was presented a DAISY Award by Paula Gardner, our Interim Chief Nursing Officer. Cheryl also received a special honorary DAISY pin which is awarded to only 12 DAISY Awardees in a year based on merits judged by a panel.

The nomination was made by a couple, one of whom was a patient of Cheryl's. The couple expressed their gratitude for the exceptional support and compassionate care the patient received during the three months of their treatment.

The nominator said: "Cheryl is the most competent and efficient medical professionals I have ever had dealings with, and my partner has a lot of health complaints so there have been many. If I wanted to know something, ask advice or have a meeting with the doctors I went directly to Cheryl because I knew it would be answered and done promptly.

"Whilst she was always professional, she also built a fantastic relationship with both of us, she laughed and cried with us during my partner's time there, and it was nice to have a professional that also had a 'human' side during what was easily the scariest and most difficult times in my life.

"I hope we are never unfortunate enough to find ourselves in this position again, if we are, I do hope we're lucky enough to end up in Cheryl's care. If angels walk among us on this earth, I have no doubt in my mind she is one of them. Thank you, Cheryl."

Thank you Cheryl for all you do.
