Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Radiology

Technology allows the Radiology Department to offer a number of different ways of imaging the human body.

Ordinary X-rays allow us to see broken bones and inflammation of joints and even illnesses like pneumonia. However, there are now a number of different tests and scans that enable clinicians to see what goes on inside your body.

The NOC's diagnostic imaging department provides a specialised musculoskeletal imaging service. This means that all images are immediately viewable to clinicians via PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) across the computer network within Oxford University Hospitals.

Our services

The following services are offered at the Radiology Department:

  • high field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • routine and specialised X-rays
  • interventional and Special Procedures
  • Bone Densitometry (DEXA scanning) for osteoporosis
  • ultrasound.

MRI is an imaging technique that produces very detailed pictures of any area of the body.
