Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC)

Oxford University Hospitals is taking part in the national Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) programme.

People aged 55 to 74 who smoke, or who have ever smoked, will be invited to have a 10 minute phone call about their smoking history.

After this, we will assess their risk factors for lung conditions and if appropriate offer them a more detailed consultation face to face with a nurse on our mobile consultation unit.

The service is currently based in the Banbury Tesco Extra car park (Old Retail Park, Lockheed Close, OX16 1LX), and will be rolled out to other parts of Oxfordshire.

Where appropriate, we may also offer a scan, and follow up any concerns identified by the scan.

This programme has been developed as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.

This kind of non-symptomatic screenings means that we can detect any issues quickly, which is an important part of successful treatment.
