Gastrointestinal Services

Gastrointestinal Services (often referred to as GI Services), is concerned with the treatment of the digestive tract (or gut) and associated organs.

The digestive tract consists of the upper and lower GI tracts.

The upper GI tract consists of the:

  • mouth
  • pharynx
  • oesophagus
  • stomach.

The lower GI tract comprises the intestines and anus.

Organs related to the GI tract are the liver, gall bladder and pancreas.
