Couples have continuity of care from initial assessment through to investigation and treatment.
Referral and advice for NHS and private IVF treatments are provided in accordance with NICE guidelines for couples who have fertility issues or who have been trying to conceive without success for more than one year.

GP referral
Referrals can be made to the John Radcliffe NHS Fertility Clinic for patients who have been actively trying to conceive for over a year, are in a same-sex relationship or are known to be suffering with a pre-existing fertility-related condition.
The clinic runs weekly on a Thursday morning, on Level 1 of the John Radcliffe Hospital Women's Centre.
Oxfordshire GPs can refer women via e-Referral.
To make these appointments as useful as possible it is essential that both partners have had the following tests completed before their appointment.
Due to confidentiality reasons both partners in the couple will have to attend their appointment together.
Female partner(s)
Between day 2-5 of menstrual cycle
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
- Luteinising Hormone (LH)
- Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
- Prolactin
- Testosterone
Day 21 of menstrual cycle (or 7 days before that start of period if longer cycle)
Progesterone
Any day of menstrual cycle
- Chlamydia swab
- Rubella immunity
- Cervical smears up-to-date (if over 25)
- Ultrasound scan - if periods are irregular, or there is a history of fibroids or cysts, an ultrasound scan may also be requested

Appointments
The fertility clinic offers appointments every Thursday morning and one all day clinic every second Saturday of the month.
After referral by a GP the appointment will be booked using e-Referral
