It is a challenging task - maintaining compliance with required legal safety standards, policies and procedures for an NHS provider can be demanding and complex, and we have to work without disrupting the patient care taking place in our theatres, wards and clinics.
Our Estates teams plan and carry out works, liaise with clinical colleagues, manage assistants and contractors, allocate tasks and ensure the quality of specifications and workmanship is of a high standard.
Our work must always meet legislative and regulatory requirements, be of the highest standard and done with minimal disturbance to patients and staff.
While many tasks are carefully planned, there are often emergencies and unexpected events that require a quick response, flexibility and an ability to think on our feet.
Technician roles
Electrical and mechanical installation and maintenance work is needed across all the Trust's sites, and the Horton General Hospital covers an extensive area in Banbury.
Our Estates staff assist with the management and implementation of programmes that will help us meet key legislative and performance standards, while at the same time ensuring that the correct procedures are followed and all work is carried out safely.
Work on essential facilities which have a direct impact on the patient experience, for example bedside call systems and wash basins, is always a priority.
While many tasks are carefully planned, we do sometimes experience unexpected events that require a quick response, flexibility and an ability to think on our feet.
