Guide to health and wellness

Many of us have been adapting to living and working in different ways as a result of COVID-19.

We have both enhanced our focus on, and further developed, our health and wellbeing offer to support you, your team and your family during this challenging time.

We understand that the nature of the work done by us in the caring profession can be challenging to our wellbeing. To effectively care for others, we must first be able to care for ourselves; and this has become ever more important since COVID-19.

We have listened to your feedback and created this comprehensive guide to:

  • bring together our diverse health and wellbeing offer that is available to you, your team and your family
  • help you easily navigate through the information and identify the most appropriate support to meet your individual health and wellbeing needs.

You will find a mix of information here, some specific to supporting ourselves and each other, some broader offers of support that will help us as we start to resume, retain and reshape how we work the Trust; building on the learning from the first phase of COVID-19.

We understand that building and maintaining your personal sense of wellness takes time, the support of yourself and others, and a combination of six key elements:

  1. emotional and psychological
  2. financial
  3. environmental
  4. physical
  5. social
  6. occupational and intellectual.

We have categorised this guide into these six elements to help you identify the most appropriate support for you.

We have provided additional guidance, links and contact details within each element, to help you find the support you need.

We hope you find this guide useful - we will update it as new offers of support become available.

We welcome your feedback on other ideas you would like to see included in this guide: culture@ouh.nhs.uk
