These organisations are 'rooted in place' and have significant assets and resources which can be used to influence the health and wellbeing of their local community.

By strategically and intentionally managing their resources and operations, Anchor Institutions can help address local social, economic and environmental priorities in order to reduce health inequalities.

Creating health with the communities we serve

On 28 September 2023 over 60 people from Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), Oxfordshire institutions, and community and voluntary sector organisations, came together in Barton Neighbourhood Centre to consider how the Trust can deliver on our Clinical Strategy ambition to develop our role as an 'Anchor Institution'.

We heard from participants about what they would like to see - some examples are included below.

• OUH as an enabling and trusted partner within a system that builds healthier and happier communities and places where people want to live and work
• an 'Anchor road map' or delivery plan with action-focused outcomes developed in partnership
• processes to underpin sustained change.
