The city of Oxford is host to the oldest university in the English-speaking world, and records indicate that education has been provided in Oxford since 1096.
In nursing and midwifery, education and practice development are inextricably linked. Whilst practice development is provided largely by Oxford University Hospitals, education is provided both by the Trust and by education partners.

Welcome to Education and the Development of Practice Excellence.
As Associate Chief Nurse, I work with a team of highly motivated and passionate individuals that support predominantly non-medical education across the Trust.
Education and the development of practice excellence is integral to the Trust's 'ambition to be at the heart of an innovative academic health science system, working in partnership locally, nationally and internationally to deliver excellence and value in patient care, teaching and research within a culture of compassion and integrity'.
Within the Directorate of the Chief Nurse, Practice Development and Education our corporate team provides a lead in supporting, coordinating and delivering a range of education provision, from statutory/mandatory training through to personal and professional development for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
The Trust's Education and Learning Strategy provides a commitment to ensure the delivery of safe and compassionate care.
We will be doing this through the development of innovative learning solutions, adoption technology-enhanced learning, increasing opportunities to promote effective team work, and a focus on supporting learning in the workplace.
