Churchill Theatres, Anaesthetics and Recovery, and Day Surgery

Join our diverse and passionate Theatre and Day Surgery team

About us

The Churchill Theatres Department consists of ten operating theatres, specialising in endocrine, renal, urology, hepatobiliary, breast, gynae-oncology, transplant, head and neck (including maxillofacial, ENT and plastics) and general surgery. There is also an emergency theatre, available 24/7. The department includes a 13 bay recovery unit and the Churchill Overnight Recovery Unit (CORU). CORU is a four bed facility providing level 2 care for surgical patients.

The Day Surgery Unit (DSU) is where the majority of elective cases arrive on the morning of surgery. The DSU has recently undergone a £2.1 million redevelopment project, to provide six individual consultation rooms, two single rooms with en-suite facilities and two six-bed single sex bays.

Development and career progression

We are committed to providing an environment that encourages learning, support, respect and team work, so that all our staff and students can deliver an excellent standard of patient care.

As part of this commitment, we are investing in the expansion of our education team. This will further support the development and career progression of our staff, along with pioneering surgical techniques provided.

Working with us

If you are keen to expand your theatre or day surgery knowledge and are committed to developing and enhancing the quality of care along with your own career progression, we have several excellent opportunities for you.

Our departmental values reflect the values of our Trust:

  • putting patients at the heart of everything we do
  • encouraging a spirit of support, integrity, respect and teamwork
  • taking pride in the quality of care we deliver
  • continually striving to improve through innovation, education and change

The cultural diversity of our theatre and day surgery teams is also something we are extremely proud of, and would love for you to become a part of it.
