Oxford Regional Genetics Laboratories

Information alert box Prioritisation of laboratory genomics services during the COVID-19 pandemic

Please see updated guidance on the prioritisation of genomic testing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Oxford Regional Genetics Laboratories provide Regional Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetic services. From 1st October 2018 a network of Genomic Laboratory Hubs (GLH) was established; we are part of  the West Midlands, Oxford and Wessex GLH led by Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, part of the NHS Genomic Medicine Service commissioned by NHS England.

As a Genomic Medicine Service provider, we are in the process of implementing the National Test Directory. We provide core rare disease and cancer services, as well as a number of specialised services (Cardiology, Endocrinology, Eyes, Non-malignant Haematology, Mitochondrial, Musculoskeletal, and Neurology). The laboratory also offers services overseas and to private patients. The laboratory offers services across constitutional and acquired disease. There are close links between the laboratory and Clinical Genetics Services and referring clinicians.

The laboratory is accredited with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO15189:2012 (ref no: 8694). Further information on the laboratory’s schedule of accreditation and which tests are currently within the scope of accreditation is provided here.

Turnaround times for testing have been specified by NHS England.

Follow the links (top right hand side) to find further information on referring samples, specimen requirements and service information. Prices are available on request.
