Our volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of the Trust and our Sobell House and Katharine House hospices.

The contribution and commitment they make each day heavily supports the care and treatment the clinical teams deliver to patients and families.

Our dedicated group of volunteers range from retired people to students. They choose to volunteer for various reasons, from having spare time to maybe seeking a career in healthcare.

Whatever their reasons, we are committed to ensuring that all our volunteers enjoy what they do, and feel comfortable within their environment and our organisation.

There are a variety of volunteering roles within Sobell House and Katharine House which enhance the service we provide.

The roles include:

  • General Ward Support
  • Sobell Companions (Sobell House)
  • Hospice Companions (Katharine House)
  • Administration Clerks
  • Meet and Greet
  • Therapy Support
  • Drivers
  • Bereavement Support Worker and Counsellors
  • Complimentary Therapists
  • Gardeners

For more information about any of these roles, the referral procedure for the Companions service, or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.
