Health and care needs project in Wantage moves ahead

Health and care bosses in Oxfordshire have been working with patients, the public, and other key stakeholders to develop a plan for future health and care needs in Wantage, Grove, and surrounding villages.

The Oxfordshire Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB) has ensured public views and experiences are taken into account in the implementation of Oxfordshire’s Population Health and Care Needs Framework in the postcode area of OX12.

The OX12 project is based on the health and wellbeing needs of the community and recognises the services and assets that already exist in the area.  

As part of the project, a public survey has been carried out and local stakeholders have been working with the NHS and local councils to understand what is currently available in the OX12 area to support people’s health and wellbeing.

A lot of information has now been gathered and is available on the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group website. 

Over the next few months, the OX12 Project Group will be working with patients and the public to come up with health and wellbeing solutions for the OX12 area. These will be developed into a set of proposals to help decide what services are required.

Jo Cogswell, director of transformation at Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: "We now have a clear understanding of the population health and care needs in OX12. This work will now help us to address the gaps in services and find solutions for these."

Formal scrutiny of the implementation of the Population Health and Care Needs Framework in OX12 will continue with regular updates provided to the Joint Oxfordshire Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
