Local charity Age UK Oxfordshire is launching their annual Dignity in Care Awards. The Dignity in Care Awards is a project that has been running since 2012 to publicise and acknowledge where truly outstanding care has been given.

The charity wants local people to nominate organisations, care settings, paid staff and volunteers who have gone that extra mile to deliver real dignity in care. They want to know about health and social care services anywhere in Oxfordshire, and about services for everyone - whatever age they are.

Dr Judith Wardle, Chair of the Dignity in Care Awards panel, said: "It has been a privilege to be involved in choosing winners for the Dignity in Care Awards. When so much we hear is about things that go wrong, it is deeply moving to read testimonies from individuals and relatives who have encountered high standards of care and compassion. Please help us again to celebrate humanity in the world of care."

The Dignity in Care Awards include a range of categories to encompass all care settings and individuals including leadership, communications awards and even campaigning awards.

Previous winners have included health professionals, care homes, unpaid carers and volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to care in their community.

One winner was nominated for, 'Her indomitable spirit, perseverance, compassion, courage and unfailing good humour in the face of adversity'.

This year the charity is broadening the award categories to include an 'Inspiration Award'. The Inspiration Award is for companies and organisations that inspire others with their high standards of care and compassion for people in their community.

This award could be won by an organisation that goes out of its way to assist individuals who need extra support in their daily lives, such as a library or local company etc.

The deadline to submit nominations is Monday 2 October 2017 and the awards will be presented in November 2017.
