Service evaluation
A service evaluation allows you to evaluate an existing clinical delivery / practice that is already in place, with a view to add new information to improve current practice.
Please contact your Divisional Research Lead to discuss. The Quality Improvement Team can also provide guidance.

Quality Improvement
A Quality Improvement (QI) project uses QI methodology to change practice and improve patient and staff experience.

Clinical research delivery teams
Get to know who your research delivery team is, and work with them to find out about protocols and studies in your clinical area. Ask them how they got involved in research delivery, and why they enjoy the roles they are in.

Fellowships
Oxford University Hospitals offers Oxford Hospitals Charity funded Chief Nursing Officer Fellowships which run once a year. They are advertised in the autumn and last six months.
These provide an opportunity for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals with little or no experience in research, service evaluation or Quality Improvement.
The aim of the fellowships gives you an opportunity to learn new quality improvement and research skills while undertaking a specific project with a focus on the trust priorities ensuring patients safety issues are being explored and developed.
Internships
The NIHR Biomedical Research Centre: Oxford runs internships every year. These are six-month awards for Band 5, 6 or 7 nurses, midwives and allied health professionals with little or no experience.
It also supports five research internships.
