Partial closure of Car Park 2 and changes to bus routes at JR

02/06/2017
This article is more than six years old.

You may have noticed a very large crane - and the temporary closure of some spaces - in Car Park 2 on the John Radcliffe site.

This is to allow vital replacement air handling units to be lifted onto the rooftop of the hospital. We're sorry for the disruption and inconvenience and ask you to bear with us during this period.

The first phase of work will last until the evening of Monday 5 June 2017. From Friday 2 June, the roundabout by the main entrance, as well as part of Car Park 2, will be closed to allow the crane to be brought in.

A second crane will be brought onto the JR site on Saturday 10 June 2017 to deliver steel work and air handling units, which will then be lifted onto the rooftop of the hospital. This will affect the roundabout by the main entrance only.

Bus route changes

The following changes are being put in place by the bus companies while the cranes are on site and the roundabout by the main entrance of the JR is closed (Friday 2 June to Monday 5 June; Saturday 10 June).

Stagecoach

10 service - not affected.

14 service - will operate a loop around the JR site from the Children's Hospital to the Maternity Unit and then onto the Blood Donor Centre, before going back to Headley Way. It will service bus stops at the Children's Hospital and at Car Park 2 on the main road (bus stop number J4).

700 service (weekday operation only) - buses entering the site from Headley Way, which will be heading to the NOC and the Churchill, will pick up and drop off in the ambulance bay on the left-hand side as you enter the Headley Way entrance, turn round at the Children's Hospital roundabout and will then  go back to Headley Way.

Please note: these buses will not be servicing bus stops at the top end of the JR site. The 700 buses entering the hospital site from Osler Road and heading to Summertown will service their normal route and stops.

800 service (weekday operation only) - will operate on its normal route and normal stops (bus stop number J4).

Oxford Bus Company

These buses will also be using the perimeter road around the hospital.

X3 and X13 services will both set down and pick up outside the West Wing (bus stop J7) and from here proceed up the hill to the stop on the side of car park 2. After servicing this stop, they will loop around the hospital to Car Park 3 where the X13 services will turn right toward Northway, and X3 services left toward Headley Way.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
