Daniel Buttress, Ophthalmic Research Nurse with the Eye Research Group Oxford (ERGO), is among seven students shortlisted for a Student Times Award in the category 'Post Registration Learner of the Year 2018'.

Daniel completed the Ophthalmic Nursing Course at the University of West London in 2017, and is currently working towards an Ophthalmic degree.

His tutor at the University provided a letter of recommendation for the Student Times Award.

The Research carried out by ERGO enables patients at Oxford Eye Hospital, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to undergo treatment options that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

Daniel says:

"We provide a patient-centred, holistic approach to our vulnerable sight-impaired client group, instilling confidence and creating a lasting clinical relationship.

"It is great to be recognised in this way, and to shine a light on the valuable research done here in Oxford."

The ceremony is on Thursday 26 April at the Hilton, Hyde Park, London.
