In September 2019, Consultant Vascular Surgeon Professor Ashok Handa received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the University of Oxford's Medical Sciences Teaching Excellence Awards.

The Awards recognise and reward excellence in teaching, supervision, organisation and development of teaching, and support for teaching and learning, within a research-intensive environment.

Professor Handa is the Director of Surgical Education at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, and was given the accolade for his enormous contribution to the Oxford Medical School through his commitment to teaching and educational leadership in surgical education, including work on the review and development of the curriculum and assessment, as well as for his outstanding contribution to college-based clinical teaching.

Throughout this time he has also been a Consultant Vascular Surgeon, providing a full range of NHS services for patients with vascular disease.

Congratulations to Prof Handa for this well-deserved recognition of his work.
