Cochlear Implant devices

In Oxford we use three manufacturers of Cochlear Implants:

Adults and children with Cochlear Implants from all three manufacturers do equally well.

There are differences in the way that they process sound and deliver the electrical signal in the cochlea. The speech processors are also quite different to look at and have different features.

The decision about which implant to use is largely up to you, unless there are specific clinical reasons why one might be more appropriate.

At the right time, we will explain the differences between the manufacturers, and show you models of the systems, so that you are able to make an informed decision.
