Research Radiology team

Our team includes the following members.

Professor Fergus Gleeson

Fergus Gleeson is a Consultant Radiologist and Professor of Radiology in Oxford. He trained in Cambridge, Papworth and London and was a Fellow in Radiology at UCLA in Los Angeles.

He was appointed to Oxford in 1992, is head of Academic Radiology and the director of Oxford Radiology Research Unit at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His specialist interests are in PET and hyperpolarized xenon MRI.

Fergus is also the director of the National Consortium of Intelligent Medical Imaging (NCIMI). This aims to bring together the NHS, University and industry partners to promote the development and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning both into the NHS and global medical care.

Danielle Wilson

Danielle is the Clinical Research Operational Manager at Oxford Radiology Research Unit at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Danielle previously acted as the Director of a pre-eminent NHS centre conducting clinical trials with individuals with dementia.

Danielle has 15 years clinical research experience working with the National Institute of Health Research networks, Imperial College London, the National Health Service and global pharmaceutical companies.

Danielle is vice chair of a Health Research Authority ethics committee and has acted as a consultant to commercial companies providing advice and guidance on clinical trial pipelines, trial protocols and grant applications.

Karen Olliffe and Kenneth Jacob

Research Radiographers

Karen and Kenneth work both clinically at the Churchill Hospital and within Oxford Radiology Research Unit. Karen works as a senior PET Radiographer and Kenneth an MRI radiographer.

Karen and Kenneth's research time is spent processing IRMER and radiology approvals, resolving queries from both researchers and the clinical team and ensuring patients have the right scan at the right time point within the research protocol.

Diane Pratley

Di is the Biopsy Co-ordinator booking both clinical and research biopsies. Di also helps to ensure that research participants are having the right scan at the right time.

Methilda Wan

Methilda is a Senior Research Co-ordinator and ensures the correct IRMER approval process is followed for each study. Methilda also ensures that all clinicians within Radiology who require GCP training are compliant.

Emily Curtis

Emily is a Clinical Research Co-ordinator and is the first port of call for all research that uses radiological procedures in its protocols. Emily processes emails which arrive in the CHRadiologyRd@ouh.nhs.uk inbox.
