1: Novice ICU nurses

12 month foundation course for novice ICU nurses incorporating:

  • 12 days classroom based study days
  • 6 weeks supernumerary
  • 2 to 4 weeks with a 'buddy' alongside
  • Competency package to frame learning
  • Clinical educator shifts with comprehensive feedback

2: Nurses with ICU experience

  • Individualised development package to supplement skills and knowledge
  • Mentor course at Oxford Brookes University
  • Mentor training for ICU needs

3: After 18 months ICU experience

  • ICU course at Oxford Brookes University at Level 7

4: Post ICU course

  • Bay coordinator development
  • Leadership and management package
  • Coordinator development
  • Promotional opportunities to Band 6
