Mark Borthwick

Mark joined the Trust in 2001, becoming a consultant pharmacist in 2007.

He has a number of clinical interests, the most widely recognised of which is in the management of delirium, although he continues to publish studies in other areas such as stress ulcer prophylaxis, medication infusion practice and on the role and impact of critical care pharmacists.

Some of this work informs GPICS standards, where he is an author of the Pharmacy section.

In 2009/10 Mark co-authored award winning guidelines on the management of flu to deal with the emergent threat of swine flu, and is an author of the Public Health England flu guidelines.

Mark is a founding fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Faculty and is also a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Hospital Expert Advisory Group. He is Co-Chair of the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association, and is the external examiner for the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice and MSc in Advanced Pharmacy Practice for University College London.
