Claire Flint has been appointed as a Non-executive Director of Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust for an initial term of three years - she will take up her new role on Wednesday 1 May 2019.

The Trust's Council of Governors, which includes elected representatives of the public and staff, made the appointment at its meeting on Wednesday 20 March 2019.

Claire, who lives in the village of Marcham near Abingdon, has a personal connection with OUH as both her parents worked for the Trust - her father as an administrator and her mother as a nursing Sister.

She has a portfolio career consisting of a number of non-executive roles and some HR and leadership consulting. For example, she is Deputy Chair of Scope, the national disability charity, and Chair of its People Committee. She is also a member of the Board of the National Nuclear Laboratory, and Chair of their Remuneration Committee.

Claire was a Senior HR Manager for the FTSE100 drinks company Diageo, working across the UK, Europe and Asia, before joining Oxford Instruments, a leading international provider of hi-tech tools, systems and products, where she served on the Management Board for more than 10 years.

Claire Flint says: "I am delighted and honoured to be appointed to the role of Non-executive Director on the Board of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust by the Council of Governors.

"I am looking forward to supporting the Board in the next phase of its ambitions for the future and I hope that my background in HR, OD, engagement and strategy will be helpful to the Trust."

Professor Sir Jonathan Montgomery, Chair of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, says: "I am delighted to welcome Claire to the Trust Board. Her considerable skills, knowledge and experience will add additional strengths to the Board's leadership.

"Recruiting and retaining a talented workforce and promoting strong engagement with our staff are key priorities for the Trust. Claire will enhance our work in this important area and I look forward to working closely with her."
