Radio Cherwell is celebrating 50 years of entertaining patients across Oxford's main hospital sites this September 2017.

The station, which launched on 30 September 1967, broadcasts a range of entertaining and informative programmes to patients and staff at the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals, as well as the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

Patients can listen to Radio Cherwell via their bedside units, as well as online via the website www.radiocherwell.com and on smartphones and tablets via the TuneIn Radio App.

To celebrate the golden age of fifty, Radio Cherwell is holding a 50th anniversary marathon, which will see the station's volunteers present programmes live from the hospitals from 12 noon lunchtime, until 10.00pm at night, and will include some of the station's flagship programmes, including 'Record Requests' and the award-winning 'Wicked Weekday Show'.

The marathon kicks off on Monday 25 September 2017 at the main reception of the John Radcliffe Hospital, before moving to the West Wing atrium on Tuesday 26 September, the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre atrium on Wednesday 27 September and the main entrance of the Churchill Hospital on Thursday 28 September.

The week finishes back at the John Radcliffe Hospital on Friday 29 September.

Full details of the birthday celebrations can be found on the station's Facebook and Twitter accounts, just search 'Radio Cherwell', or visit the website: www.radiocherwell.com
