Professor Nicola Stoner, OUH Consultant Cancer Pharmacist, has been awarded an Honorary Membership of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the First FRCR Clinical Oncology examinations.

Honorary Memberships of the College are offered to a limited number of individuals who have made notable contributions to clinical radiology or oncology in the UK, and Prof Stoner is the first Consultant Pharmacist Honorary Member of the RCR.

Prof Stoner leads a team of OUH Pharmacy staff providing clinical Pharmacy services to the Oxford Cancer and Haematology Centre, and works as an independent prescriber in the Colorectal Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) as part of her clinical practice. Her areas of expert practice include systemic anticancer treatment, oncology, advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) and gene therapy.

She received the accolade after a unanimous decision at a Royal College of Radiologists council meeting, following a recommendation from the Honours Committee, and attended an Admission Ceremony for New Fellows alongside other Honorary Members of the College on 16 June 2022.

OUH Consultant Oncologist Andrew Weaver said:

"This is a well-deserved award in recognition of Nicola's outstanding contribution to the Part I FRCR Clinical Oncology  examinations - the Oncology Department is delighted in her success."

Bhulesh Vadher, OUH Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Sterile Services, said:

"It is absolutely fantastic news that Nicola has been made an Honorary Member of the Royal College of Radiologists. As the first Consultant Cancer Pharmacist in England, she is an inspiration to Pharmacists inside and outside of the OUH.

"She is a visible leader within the Pharmacy world, and to be recognised outside of her profession is truly exceptional. It is a pleasure to work with such a high performer and have her as part of the Pharmacy team."
