Oxford University Hospitals has today (Wednesday 4 August) welcomed more than 400 junior doctors to the #OneTeamOneOUH family.

Every August, NHS trusts across the country welcome new recruits, while the previous year's intake head off on the next step in their careers.

This year, a total of 425 junior doctors have joined our hospitals at (OUH), including almost 200 doctors who are in their first (Foundation Year 1) or second (Foundation Year 2) year of training after completing medical school.

As part of their training, first year foundation doctors undertake work shadowing, while the new recruits rotate among hospital departments to learn all aspects of their role.

In an email to all staff, Professor Meghana Pandit, our Chief Medical Officer, said: "I am delighted to welcome the latest cohort of junior doctors to the Trust.

"Our new colleagues are absolutely central to making our hospitals the great places that they are, and I know you will join me in giving them a warm #OneTeamOneOUH welcome."

She added: "We are very pleased to see our latest recruits and are looking forward to teaching and inspiring this new generation of doctors through our values of delivering compassionate excellence."

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s new starters will undergo their induction virtually.

Welcome and good luck to our new junior doctors!
