Holidays - a reminder about self-isolation

People from Oxfordshire who have been abroad on holiday to nations that are not on the official exempt list must self-isolate when they return from abroad for 14 days.

Oxford is currently experiencing a rise in coronavirus cases, and, in common with other parts of the country, the evidence is that at least some of this is due to people returning from holiday and testing positive.

Ansaf Azhar, Oxfordshire County Council's Public Health Director, said:

"We have mentioned this previously but we need to emphasise the point once more - if you have been abroad to a country that is not officially exempt you do need to self-isolate.

"It is appreciated that this is inconvenient but it will help stop the spread of COVID-19."

Self-isolation means that you must not:

• go to work, school or public places - work from home if you can
• use public transport or taxis
• go out to get food and medicine - order online or by phone, or ask someone to bring it to your home
• have visitors in your home, including friends and family - except for providing essential care
• go out to exercise - exercise at home or in your garden, if you have one.
