David is a full-time NHS consultant at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, a renowned specialist orthopaedic hospital and tertiary referral centre.
His areas of interest lie in hip and knee replacement surgery and limb reconstruction surgery. This is a subspecialty of orthopaedic surgery which deals with deformity correction and bone regeneration following major trauma, bone loss or congenital problems.
He has a particular interest in problem fractures that have gone on to non-union (failure to unite) or malunion (healed in an unacceptable position). Many of these problems are secondary to infection and he works with a team running the only dedicated bone infection unit in the country.
David has a keen interest in teaching and research and has published papers relating to limb lengthening, non-union surgery and bone infection.
David is a regular faculty member on the Oxford FRCS (Orth) revision course.
Perhaps unusually for an orthopaedic surgeon, he rides a motorcycle and has a keen interest in motor sport. He particularly enjoys providing medical support for many motorcycle events at Cadwell Park and for the Vintage Motor sport Club at various tracks around the country.
