NHS 70th birthday events announced

04/06/2018
This article is more than five years old.

Thursday 5 July 2018 is the 70th birthday of the National Health Service - and everyone is invited to come and join in the celebrations at Oxford University Hospitals.

We are grateful to Oxford Hospitals Charity for generously supporting a wide range of activities and events to mark this major milestone for the NHS in Oxfordshire - no NHS funds will be used.

Patients, visitors, local residents and staff are welcome to attend NHS Big7Tea events on all four of our main hospital sites on Thursday 5 July. Come and enjoy strawberries and cream, and a cup of tea of course.

We will also be cutting NHS 70th birthday cakes.

For full details of locations and times in Oxford and Banbury please see www.ouh.nhs.uk/nhs70

Other events taking place to celebrate the NHS 70th birthday include:

  • a photography exhibition with images from the archives, on display from Monday 2 July on all four of our main hospital sites
  • special screenings of the BBC TV documentary 'How the NHS changed our world' about the John Radcliffe Hospital and the Radcliffe Infirmary: there will be four screenings on Thursday 5 July at the John Radcliffe Hospital
  • Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) events including a public talk by BRC Director Professor Keith Channon and behind the scenes tours.
