Energy link goes live

After many months of work the Trust is delighted to announce that the Energy Link is now live.

This morning (Thursday 10 August 2017) Kevin Tinson, Operational Estates Manager for OUH, closed the circuit breaker for the new Energy Link. As a result, the Churchill Hospital is now being supplied with power from the new Energy Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Claire Hennessy, Head of Operational Estates and Facilities said: "The Energy Centres at both hospitals have been transformed and there are just a few more steps to go before they are fully operational."

Steve Black, Vital Energi Account Director, added "This is a first in the NHS and it is an enormous credit to everyone who has been part of the project. Once the CHP is commissioned at the John Radcliffe next month, the generated heat and electricity will be transmitted to both hospitals and the initial CO2 and financial savings that the Trust is seeing now will then become really significant."
