A new Channel 4 documentary series which begins this evening (Thursday 20 November 2025) showcases some of the pioneering research taking place at the Churchill Hospital that is shaping the future of cancer treatment.  

The three-part series, Cancer Detectives: Finding the Cures, produced in partnership with Cancer Research UK, explores the science that could transform the future of cancer prevention, detection and treatment.

This evening’s first episode, to be broadcast at 9.00pm on Channel 4, features the ground-breaking research of Sarah Blagden, Professor of Experimental Oncology at the University of Oxford and Honorary Oncology Consultant at OUH, including the development of cancer vaccines and new drug treatments.

Much of the episode was filmed in the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit at the Churchill Hospital and at the university buildings on Old Road campus.
