Research

Our research involves patients with all stages of kidney disease and transplantation.

These include:

  • Pre-dialysis
  • Haemodialysis
  • Peritoneal dialysis
  • Kidney transplantation

We conduct a diverse range of studies including clinical trials and observational studies.

Our team strives for excellence by supporting and conducting early phase research projects to develop new treatments helping to improve the quality of life for patients experiencing kidney problems.

Research helps find, develop and improve treatments for renal patients.

ACHIEVE

ACCess
The aim of this study is to see if the type of anaesthetic technique used to numb the arm during surgery affects whether or not a fistula fails. You will be allocated at random (like tossing a coin) to receive one of two types of anaesthetic: local or regional ('block').

Neither of these techniques are new and both are commonly performed for fistula surgery. Following discharge, two additional study visits will be scheduled to check on your fistula (at three months and 12 months after your operation).
