Heart Failure Service

Heart failure means your heart is not pumping blood around your body as well as it should.

It does not mean your heart has stopped working, however you may need treatment and support to help it work better. Further information for patients about this condition available at the links below.

The Heart Failure Service provides a comprehensive service for patients with heart failure, from pre-diagnosis onwards.

Our service includes:

  • assessment and diagnosis of people with possible heart failure
  • assessment for new therapies and/or devices
  • evaluation and support for patients
    • with difficult to manage heart failure
    • in whom co-morbidity limits heart failure management
    • with cancer or chemotherapy-related heart failure.

We are experienced in the delivery of:

  • diagnostic services
  • core and advanced heart failure clinical care
  • novel service development
  • medical education
  • cutting-edge research.

Our multidisciplinary team of specialists provides holistic, state-of-the-art care, supporting patients through tests, diagnosis, management and relief of symptoms and a full risk assessment.

We offer:

  • key lifestyle advice
  • education
  • counselling
  • psychological support
  • links with palliative services when needed.

We work closely with our clinical partners to ensure our patients have access to the best diagnostic tools and imaging, and liaise with a network of community nurses and GPs to provide seamless care across the region.

We also offer our patients the chance to take part in cutting-edge national and international research.
