Emergency Department Resus
We involve artists at the earliest stages of planning and designing new wards and departments, allowing time for them to work with staff to understand the needs of patients and integrate meaningful work into the new scheme. Where possible artists are appointed at early design stages so they can influence the colour of walls, doors, wall protection and capital items as well as select furniture to create a coherent, positive and calming environment.
Artist Jacqui Poncelet worked with architects on the Resus extension to the Emergency Department, creating a nature-based colour scheme of blues and greens as well as artwork for the waiting room and bereavement room.

Developing the nature theme, Oona Culley's artwork of oak, beech and ash leaves extends across the space, from ceiling tiles in bays, light tiles for the CT scanner ceiling and paediatric bay, to wall artwork for a room for patients with mental health needs and a light box for staff in a windowless room.

Radiology
Artist/designer Ella Doran created a programme of artwork to transform the entire department, incorporating solar spectrum wallpaper, dichroic entrance lettering, light themed artwork and a light box for the waiting area, as well as colourful furniture and specifying the colours of disposable curtains.
