Research and Development

We undertake a wide range of research and service development work.

All presentations and publications arising from our development work can be found on our publications and presentations pages.

Please contact the corresponding author if you would like more information about any of the published work.

The department strongly believes that clinical academic careers drive innovation and improvement within healthcare. We encourage and support staff who wish to undertake clinical academic careers,  either through National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded research fellowships (NIHR Training Programmes) or other means.

Phantom Development (Imaging and Radioisotopes)

In collaboration with the Centre of Rapid and Sustainable Development (CDRsp) in Portugal we are investigating producing tissue equivalent multi-modality phantoms

PET/CT Reconstruction (Radioisotopes)

In collaboration with GE Healthcare Molecular Imaging we are investigating improvements to clinical PET/CT images through the use of Bayesian reconstruction and new motion correction techniques

SPECT/CT Reconstruction (Radioisotopes)

In collaboration with Hermes Medical we are investigating improvements to clinical SPECT/CT images through the use of Bayesian reconstruction and Monte Carlo collimator modelling techniques

Intra-operative Monitoring (Clinical Measurement)

Development of techniques for improved assessment of spinal cord integrity.
