Digital maternity notes - 'BadgerNotes'

From January 2024 all maternity notes at Oxford University Hospitals will be on an app called BadgerNotes.

This app will replace the current maternity notes folder.

You can view and update your own care record from your smartphone, tablet or computer. You will also be able to register that you are pregnant directly with us via our website.

You will be able to access all our maternity patient leaflets via the app (as well as on the hospital website as usual), and your midwife will be able to send you relevant resources directly.

The app is currently available in 11 languages - you can select your preferred language in the app.

Antenatal appointments will be added to the BadgerNotes app from 23 January 2024 and labour and post-birth care will be on the app from 6 February 2024.

Your medical notes remain confidential and can only be seen by you and healthcare professionals involved in your care. Access to the app is password protected and meets strict NHS data security standards.

How to access your digital notes

Download the free BadgerNotes app and create an account:

When you book a pregnancy, your midwife will give you a passphrase to enter in the app to make a new care record for that pregnancy.

If you choose not to access your records digitally, your midwife can print them and give you a copy to keep. Please speak to your midwife if you have concerns about accessing the app.

If you already have paper notes for your pregnancy, please carry your notes folder for the rest of your pregnancy: however, after 23 January 2024 the Maternity team will document all new information on BadgerNotes.
