Respiratory Paediatrics

We provide a paediatric respiratory medicine service for the Thames Valley area, Northamptonshire and parts of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

The services we offer include:

  • regional cystic fibrosis centre
  • sleep service (home study and inpatient work)
  • non-invasive respiratory support service (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP))
  • care of children with tracheostomies
  • management of empyema (a collection of pus in the pleural cavity) of the lung and other respiratory infections
  • management of asthma
  • management of other respiratory illnesses
  • investigation of respiratory problems

Outreach clinics are provided at:

  • High Wycombe
  • Milton Keynes
  • Wexham Park
  • Reading
  • Northampton

We also participate in a quarterly joint cleft palate clinic and a quarterly transitional clinic with the adult cystic fibrosis services based at the Churchill Hospital.
