Paediatric Neurology

Oxford University Hospitals provides a general paediatric neurology service for the Oxford district and specialist paediatric neurology services for the wider Thames Valley area, Northamptonshire and parts of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

The services we offer include:

  • a weekly regional one stop neuromuscular disease MDT clinic
  • a regional service for children with difficult epilepsy
  • a regional neuro-oncology service with paediatric neurosurgery and paediatric oncology
  • a regular movement disorder service
  • a regional and district diagnostic service for children with complex neurological problems, including neurological support to PICU and paediatric neurosurgery
  • input to the National Commissioning Group (NCG) funded Congenital Myasthenia Service, Neuromyelitis Optica and Neurofibromatosis Type 2
  • six consultant paediatric neurologists providing a 24 hour emergency on-call service for paediatric neurology to the district and the region.

Outreach clinics are provided at district hospitals in:

  • Aylesbury
  • Banbury
  • Kettering
  • Milton Keynes
  • Northampton
  • Reading
  • Slough
  • Swindon
  • Wycombe.

The paediatric neurologists provide regular ward rounds to the children's neurosurgical ward.

The paediatric neurology service works closely with:

  • paediatric EEG
  • paediatric neurosurgery

Our work is supported by colleagues in occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy.
