Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeons

Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeons' special area of interest is the nervous system, including the brain and spine. Many of the conditions that are treated in the Unit are associated with problems in these areas.

They understand the implications of restricted skull growth on the developing brain, and work with the other specialists to develop an effective treatment plan to maximise the proper functioning of a child's brain, spinal cord and nerves, especially where there is restriction in the growth of the skull or abnormalities with the brain that may need surgical treatment.

Maxillofacial Surgeons and Orthodontists

Many of the conditions treated by the craniofacial team can affect the growth of the teeth, jaws and face. The members of the team who look after this aspect are maxillofacial surgeons and orthodontists, who specialise in the development and management of the face, teeth and jaws.

If we think you or your child need advice with these aspects, you will be assessed by these team members, initially as part of the MDT held on Friday mornings, and if further advice or treatment is required, follow-up appointments may be made in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics.
