Reference intervals

NSE > 60 mcg/L at 48- 72 hours post-ROSC indicates high probability of poor neurological outcome.

NSE should be used as a part of the multimodal neuroprognostication (European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2021).

Notes

NSE may also be requested as a tumour marker; however this is sent away to Sheffield Immunology for analysis.
