The department of Biochemistry at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is accredited in accordance with the recognised International Standard ISO 15189:2012 Medical Laboratories - Requirements for Quality and Competence.

The Schedule of Accreditation can be found here:

Schedule of Accreditation (pdf) -

Any test offered by the laboratory that is not included is not currently accredited. The department is actively working towards gaining accreditation for the full repertoire of tests offered.

Quality improvements implemented since the last time the laboratory was inspected have resulted in some tests that were previously accredited now being out-of-scope.

These are:

  • plasma Digoxin concentration
  • serum ACE activity
  • CSF spectroscopy (xanthochromia).

It is anticipated that these will be included in the updated scope to be published following the laboratory's next inspection.
