Ovarian Antibodies

Autoantibodies directed against enzyme 17-alpha-hydroxylase (17-alpha-OH) give a positive ovarian staining pattern. These antibodies are found in patients with autoimmune endocrinopathies such as

  1. Ovarian failure with Addison's disease (100%)
  2. Autoimmune polyendocrine syndromes types 1 and 2 without ovarian failure but to a much lesser extent.
  3. Hypoadrenalism
  4. Insulin dependent diabetes
