About us

We provide a comprehensive range of services for adult patients with rheumatic conditions. We treat conditions with medication and non-drug approaches including physiotherapy.

Most patients that we look after are seen in the Outpatient Clinic or attend the Day Unit for specific treatment. A few patients need to be admitted for further tests or treatment.

The department is active in rheumatology research and audit. Biological therapies are used for the treatment of aggressive disease and the department uses state-of-the-art methods of assessment and monitoring of patients.

Paediatric Rheumatology

Paediatric rheumatology is an important part of our service and is provided by the multidisciplinary Oxford Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Centre (OxPARC).

The unit currently has over 500 registered patients, and offers a one-stop clinic with support from physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology and ophthalmology.

The service provides a specialist tertiary service for young people with rheumatic disease to the whole Thames Valley area and neighbouring counties.

Sports injuries

We have also led the development of Oxsport@noc - the Trust's multi-disciplinary clinic for the diagnosis and management of sports injuries and related problems.

Oxsport@noc also provides vital training for a range of medical professionals wishing to gain expertise in sports medicine. The clinic works closely with athletes from Oxford's universities.
