Your appointment

What to wear

Bring shorts and a T-shirt if you have them. You may need to undress down to underwear so it would be advisable to wear appropriate underwear or wear shorts and/or singlet. We do have a limited supply of shorts that can be loaned to you during the consultation, if you forget to bring yours.

Arriving for your appointment

We always try and give appointment times that suit you. Please contact us if there are any problems.

If possible, please arrive a little early as you may be required to complete a questionnaire. Leave plenty of time if you are coming by car as parking can be difficult. For information about travel and car parking, please see:

We make every effort to see people at the correct time, although there are sometimes delays. Check with reception if you have waited longer than ten minutes and do not hesitate to ask the staff if you are unsure of anything.

What to expect

Your first visit will last about 30-60 minutes on a one-to-one basis with your physiotherapist. You will be asked questions about your problem, such as the following.

  • What is troubling you?
  • What makes it better?
  • What makes it worse?
  • When did it start?
  • What started it (if known)?
  • Any previous treatments?
  • Any similar problems?
  • Any general health problems?

There will also be a physical examination. This may require the physiotherapist to ask you to undress to your underwear or shorts/T-shirt as you feel comortable. This will help us assess exactly what the problem is. See link below for more information on assessment and treatment.
