The Oxford Deanery has as higher specialist training scheme in Sport & Exercise Medicine (SEM) running from ST3 and leading to entry onto the specialist register with the GMC in SEM. The training scheme has been running for a number of years and is highly regarded with excellent feedback from past and present trainees. The training scheme incorporates rotations in General Practice, ED, Public Health, Chronic Disease & Exercise Medicine, Musculoskeletal medicine/SEM/Orthopaedics/Rheumatology and in Elite Sport. Training locations include Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Southampton Football Club and the English Institute of Sport. There are also excellent opportunities to pursue academic activities and to take time out of training to conduct research leading to higher qualifications.
