Our clinics

When your GP refers you to see an orthopaedic surgeon you can choose to be seen and treated at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

This can either be booked directly at the doctor's surgery or you may be asked to ring our appointments line:

Tel: 01865 737333

You will then receive a letter inviting you to attend one of our clinics.

In some instances, and if it is appropriate, some tests may be organised in advance of your visit, for example an MRI scan. This will enable the doctor treating you to give you a more detailed explanation of the problems you are experiencing with your foot or ankle and will help him or her plan the appropriate treatment.

In some cases, after your consultation, your doctor may organise further investigations. These may include blood tests, X-rays, MRI scans or bone scans.

The test results will be reported to the consultant caring for you. They will then write to you explaining what action they would like to take. This might include seeing you again in clinic to discuss things further, treating you with a course of physiotherapy or listing you for an operation.

We always aim to run clinics as efficiently as possible and keep waiting times to an absolute minimum. However, on occasion there may be delays and we would ask you to remain patient - we will always try and see you as soon as we can.

Pre-operative Assessment Clinic (POAC)

If you have been told you need an operation, you will be asked to attend a Pre-operative Assessment Clinic
