Outcome

The outcome is extremely good for the majority of illnesses that we treat.

A child can now expect an active childhood, full-time school attendance and to go onto further education and work.

The employment rate amongst our patients is the same as that of the normal population. Our young people continue to have families of their own without limitation to activity. Sporting and academic prowess is achieved by many of our patients even following severe disease.

For those with non-inflammatory conditions or complications, our patients develop strategies and skills to cope or avoid the impact of pain on their sense of wellbeing and lifestyle.
