General outpatient clinics

There are a number of clinics for heart conditions, such as heart rhythm disturbances, congenital heart disease and heart failure.

Patients are usually referred by their GP, but some are referred from other hospitals and from other specialists in Oxford.

In most cases the department offers a 'one stop' service. This means that tests such as echocardiography, electrocardiography and exercise testing are performed on the same day, and patients can discuss the results with the consultant without the need for a follow-up appointment. Patients who need a day case coronary angiography appointment and assessment can have these with one of the cardiac nurses during the same visit.
