Dr Jane Phillips-Hughes, Consultant Radiologist from the Churchill Hospital, has been inaugurated as the new President of the British Institute of Radiology from 2018 to 2020.

Jane has been a Consultant Radiologist in Oxford since 1995. Specialising in interventional radiology, her main areas of interest are in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary radiology, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.

She remarked that becoming President  of such a renowned society is 'a dream come true', as she has been a BIR member since her early days as a young trainee radiologist when she first attended an event at the Portland Place Headquarters. Since then she has had senior  roles on the BJR Editorial Board and Council.

The previous President, Andy Rogers, handed over the chain of office to Dr Phillips-Hughes at a reception attended by around 90 members, corporate members and supporters as well as representatives from other professional bodies.
