Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating all things nursing as part of an International Nurses and Midwives Day Conference on Friday 11 May 2018.

The all-day event at the John Radcliffe Hospital features keynote speaker Tom Ray, whose life was radically changed following a sepsis infection, leading to a quadruple amputation. His wife Nic will also be with him to tell her story.

Trust Chairman Dame Fiona Caldicott and Trust Chief Executive Bruno Holthof will also be taking part at the event.

The day features presentations to nurses who have been registered for over 40 years, and a graduation ceremony for nurses to receive a postgraduate certificate award.

Dame Fiona Caldicott, Chairman of the Trust, said: "We think this is a perfect way to celebrate International Nurses Day.

"The event is a celebration of our nurses and recognition of their huge contributions to the Trust. Nurses at all levels will be giving talks on their specialist areas and sharing their experiences.

"It will be a privilege to honour some of our longest-serving nurses, and to thank all of our nursing staff for their exemplary care and compassion.  They do a wonderful job, and I look forward to congratulating them."
